Coffee Market Report
July 23, 2026
The world’s largest coffee cooperative Cooxupe, in Brazil have come forth with a report to confirm that their members have harvested 47.30% of the new, majority natural processed arabica crop coffees as at the 17th July. This compared with the same period last year, and a harvest of 59% of the new crop. Cooxupe have reported a total of 3.22 million bags of their forecast 6.80 million bags to be received by Cooxupe received thus far in the current harvest season. This crop harvest that is underway will support exports to consumer markets for the July 2026 to June 2027 Brazil coffee year.
The Certified washed arabica coffee stocks held against the New York exchange were seen to decrease by 8,144 bags yesterday, to register these stocks at 320,615 bags, with 71.47% of these certified stocks held in Europe, at a total of 229,152 and the remaining 28.53% being held in the USA at a total 91,463 bags. Of this, a total 10,288 or 3.20% of the coffees registered and stored in consumer country certified warehouses of the exchange, are Brazil washed arabica, and a further 29.96% of these certified coffees, from Honduras at 96,067 bags and 18.47% from Peru at a total 59,232 bags. The pending grading remained unchanged on the day, registering 0 bags pending grading.
The September 2026 to September 2026 contract arbitrage between the London and New York markets narrowed yesterday, to register this at 144.32 Usc/Lb. This equates to 45.58% price discount for London robusta coffee.
It was a mixed but overall firmer day on the commodity markets yesterday, on the back of a softer US Dollar against a basket of other currencies which is traditionally a bullish factor for commodities traded in other currencies, while heightening inflation concerns reinforced bets for interest rate increases to come. The Corn, Soybean, Wheat, Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium markets ended the day on a positive note, while the Coffee, Cocoa and Sugar markets ended the day on a softer note. The day starts with the US Dollar trading at 1.339 Sterling, at 1.143 to the Euro and with the US Dollar buying 5.055 Brazil Real.
The London market started the day yesterday trading on a modest firmer note, while the New York market started the day trading to the south of par, dropping back to set a low for the early morning session, the London market quickly reversed the early trend to drop back through par and into softer territory for the remainder of the morning session. As the afternoon progressed the markets encountered sustained resistance to drop back from the early levels and continue trading on a softer path in softer territory. Late in the day, a degree of speculative long liquidation followed, both the New York and London markets dropping back to set a new low for the day. As the session progressed and the activity increased, albeit in comparatively modest terms, the markets found support near to the lows of the day to recover from the earlier losses whilst trading below par, the New York market settled on a softer note at the close with most of the earlier losses of the day intact, whilst the London market settled on a softer note at the close, with less than half of the earlier losses intact.
The London market ended the day on a negative note, with 27.16% of the earlier losses of the day intact, while the New York market ended the day on a likewise negative note with 62.28% of earlier losses of the day on the intact. This softer close for the markets, does little to inspire confidence, with the New York market settling near to the lows of the day and the London market recovering most of the earlier losses of the day during what was a choppy session, and one might think that the markets are due for little better than a steady start to early trade today, against the prices set yesterday, as follows:
