June 25, 2026

The world’s largest coffee cooperative Cooxupe, in Brazil have come forth with a report to confirm that their members have harvested 20.10% of the new, majority natural processed arabica crop coffees. This compared with the same period last year, and a harvest of 24.30% of the new crop. This means a total of 1.37 million bags of the expected 6.80 million bags to be received by Cooxupe has been harvested so far. Cooxupe expects coffee exports to be 11.48% larger than the previous year, during this current season when compared to the last.

Of this, a total 10,455 or 2.68% of the coffees registered and stored in consumer country certified warehouses of the exchange, are Brazil washed arabica, and a further 34.35% of these certified coffees, from Honduras at 113,596 bags and 15.73% from Peru at a total 61,157 bags. The pending grading remained unchanged on the day, registering 275 bags pending grading, with 100% from Honduras.

The September 2026 to September 2026 contract arbitrage between the London and New York markets widened yesterday, to register this at 114.78 Usc/Lb. This equates to 41.24% price discount for London robusta coffee.

It was a mixed day on the commodity markets yesterday, on the back of a strengthening US Dollar, which is seen to be a bearish factor for commodities traded in other currencies. The Coffee and Cocoa markets ended the day on a firmer note, while the Corn, Soybean, Sugar, Wheat, Gold, Silver, Platinum and Palladium markets ended the day on a softer note. The day starts with the US Dollar trading at 1.316 Sterling, at 1.135 to the Euro and with the US Dollar buying 5.197 Brazil Real.

The London and New York markets started the day yesterday in muted volume, trading in softer territory. The markets continued to trade in muted softer territory, before briefly dropping back to see the New York market set a new low for the day during the early morning session.  Both the New York and London markets found support during the early morning session, to trend back in a firmer direction.  The arrival of the America’s at the start of their business day was met with some degree of buying support to push the New York market into a positive trend, triggering buy stops along the way to accentuate the gains for the day, and speculative short covering which saw the New York market gain ground quickly throughout the afternoon session, with the London market following suit to make gains throughout the afternoon session. The New York market continued the upward momentum before being capped late in the day, to see the market drop back and settle on a firm note at the close, with less than half of the earlier gains of the day intact. The London market was seen to also settle on a firm note at the close, with most of the earlier gains of the day intact.

The London market ended the day on a positive note, with 58.33% of the earlier gains of the day intact, while the New York market ended the day on a likewise positive note with 16.13% of the earlier gains of the day intact.  This firmer close might see the markets set for a steady start to early trade today, albeit that the New York market dropped back from the highs of the day during the session to settle on firmer note at the close, while the London market settled on a firmer note with most of the earlier gains of the day intact, to possibly see the markets set for a steady start to early trade today, against the prices set yesterday, as follows:
